Miticidal Tools for Management of Southern Red Mites Infesting Southern Highbush Blueberries

چکیده
Tetranychid outbreaks have been detected since 2016 in southern highbush blueberries (SHB); however, it was not until 2019 that the red mite (SRM), Oligonychus ilicis (Acari: Tetranychidae) confirmed as pest causing severe bronzing and stunting, multiple Florida Georgia commercial blueberry plantings. To date, only three miticides (fenazaquin, fenpyroximate, acequinocyl) registered for use SHB there are no clear guidelines on how to manage SRM SHB. Similarly, is knowledge regarding existence of natural enemies This first report naturally occurring predatory mites (Amblyseius sp. Neoseiulus ilicis) associated with Predatory were recorded bushes after treatment seven used suppress populations including spiromesifen, acequinocyl, sulfur, sulfur + molasses, bifenazate, fenazaquin. The number per leaf averaged plant damage ratings (0 = bronzing–4 100% bronzing) evaluate miticide efficacy. Additionally, presence or absence sample recorded. Fenpyroximate standard miticide, significantly reduced numbers days application, well acequinocyl fenazaquin demonstrated best performance managing O. treated less compared control plants. These also safe mites. Lastly, level growers’ awareness assessed using surveys 2020 design adequate educational materials available grower community.

Fruit quality parameters of some southern highbush blueberries (Vaccinium xcorymbosum L.) grown in Andalusia (Spain)
Physical and chemical parameters of fresh berries from three southern highbush (‘O’Neal’, ‘Sharpblue’ and ‘Misty’) blueberry cultivars grown in Huelva (Southwestern Spain) under two production systems were measured and evaluated. ANOVA applied to data yielded significant differences between production systems for mean fruit size and mean fruit fresh weight (P<0.05), although main effects on phy...
متن کاملCorrelation between sensory and instrumental measurements of standard and crisp-texture southern highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum L. interspecific hybrids)
BACKGROUND Fruit texture is a primary selection trait in southern highbush blueberry (SHB) breeding to increase fresh fruit postharvest quality and consumer acceptance. A novel crisp fruit texture has recently been identified among SHB germplasm. In this study, we developed a common set of descriptors that align sensory evaluation of blueberry fruit texture with instrumental measures that could...
متن کاملEvaluation of New Approaches for Management of Japanese Beetles in Highbush Blueberries
The Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica, can be a pest of highbush blueberries because of direct feeding on berries and leaves, and the risk of contaminating harvested fruit. To determine where beetles are most abundant and whether cultural controls have potential for use against P. japonica in blueberry, soil was sampled for grubs during 2001 and 2002 in and around fifteen blueberry fields. Den...
متن کاملEvaluation ofPhytotoxicity of Diazinon and Captan Formulations on Highbush Blueberries
A common practice in highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) culture is to use combinations of insecticides and fungicides to reduce the number and cost of pesticide applications. In response to apparent phytotoxicity observed in commercial fields that were treated with combinations of diazinon and captan formulations, phytotoxicity of two formulations of diazinon (Diazinon AG600 and Diazi...

The aim of this study was to evaluated body weights and survival rates at birth, 3 and 6 months of age and to determine effects of calving year, season and sex on those traits in Southern Anatolian Redcalves. The animals were raised in Adana East Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute's Dogankent location between 2000 and 2007 years. Duncan test statistic for estimating the differences b...
